So on my way to work this morning driving across 86th Street I saw two cars stopped in the middle of the street just east of Meridian (near Central) trying to save a dog in the center median from getting hit by traffic. I immediately pulled into the turn lane, hit the flashers, grabbed my spare leash and treats from the back seat and ran over to help. She was very scared and skittish but we were able to get this sweet girl off of 86th Street and into a grassy area next to the ball diamonds at First Baptist church. Eventually with more coaxing and treats we got a leash on her harness and into the back of my Honda CRV. I took her to a nearby vet where they scanned her and found no chip. I tried to take her to Indy Humane society and they said they could not take her. I next called Indianapolis Animal Control (IACS) and was told they are completely full with animals in every corner of the building. Anyway this sweet girl (we are calling her Maggie for now) is now safely in our fenced backyard, she has had food and water and our dog crate fixed up with blankets…
