This stray cat (who I have named “Arthur” until his owner is found) is medium-sized with green eyes, orange fur, a white underbelly and a striped tail, and he has no collar. Based on his size, weight, appetite, quietness and relatively low energy levels, I think he is an older cat, probably around 10-12 years old or so.

He is very friendly, laid-back and affectionate. He loves to sleep in the sun, he is often hanging out around our porch, he is completely okay with people picking him up (he often purrs when we do it), he is pretty quiet (does not meow very often), and his fur seems to be pretty well-kept and clean. All of this—combined with the fact that we have never seen him in our neighborhood until late last week—leads me to believe he is an older housecat who was abandoned by his owners just a few days ago.

Arthur is also a bit congested, which may be due to him breathing outside. This causes him to sneeze very frequently, and it makes his breathing and purring sound very ragged. He also has to sometimes pause and take deep breaths when he’s eating because he has trouble breathing through his nose. We decided to bring Arthur in because he’s been visibly bleeding a lot from his nose lately, even though there are no scratches on his nose. This nosebleeding may be due to the frequent sneezing.
