Found kitty in the Community Heights area (N Downey Ave, right next to Community East). He is a small unaltered male white and tabby kitty. This cat has been visiting my front porch every night at dusk to eat for the past few weeks. He seemed really hungry and with it getting colder at night, I decided to trap him on 11/16. He was absolutely petrified to start with and just wanted to squeeze into a corner of my office and hiss when I came close. He does not have a microchip. I was starting to worry as he has been too afraid to eat much since we took him in. I was trying to give him a lot of alone time to decompress, but yesterday I just started petting him and he turned into a completely different cat. He was rubbing on me, purring, and being super affectionate. At first I thought he might be a young feral cat, but now I’m not so sure. Posting in case someone recognizes him as their lost kitty. I think it’s pretty unlikely because I’ve seen him around the neighborhood occasionally for at least a few months. Maybe he was a community cat that other people were feeding? Either way, unless someone is able to identify him as theirs, I am planning to keep him (assuming he tests negative for FeLV and FIV – we have another cat so I don’t think I’d be comfortable having a positive cat in the home due to the risk of infection).
