Animal Cruelty

It’s your responsibility to report animal cruelty of any kind if you see it or know of it happening, regardless of whether the animal is a pet, stray, or wild animal.  This includes animals being abandoned, tortured, killed, beaten, etc. It does not matter if the animal is a pet, wild or stray animal–it is still illegal.

For crime in progress: Call 911

For suspected abuse, neglect, or other animal violations:

During regular hours in Marion Co: Call the Mayor’s Action Center at (317) 327-4622, Mon – Fri 7:30am – 5:30pm or www.indy.gov/requestindy to submit a case location and details to IACS

During off hours in Marion Co: Either call police dispatch for assistance at (317) 327-3811 or www.indy.gov/requestindy

For other counties, please contact the non-emergency police contact for that county.  Some of those numbers can be found at https://www.indylostpetalert.com/animal-welfare-information-per-county/
